HMC monitoring

Since v4.50 you can monitoring HMC itself. Following data is collected and graphed from all connected HMCs:
  • OS CPU utilization of user/sys/IO wait/idle in %
  • Memory utilization of used/fs cache/free memory in MB
  • Paging rate in MB/sec

  • You have to install v4.50 OS agent on the LPAR2RRD server.
If you run LPAR2RRD on Intel Linux then get agent rpm package from here:
    Agent download (lpar2rrd-agent-4.XX-0.Linux.noarch.rpm)

  • You have to activate standard LPAR2RRD daemon
    • set: LPAR2RRD_AGENT_DAEMON=1 in etc/lpar2rrd.cfg
    • it gets started in the next LPAR2RRD run or manually by ./

  • Schedulle HMC data load from crontab:
    0,5,10,15,20,25,30,35,40,45,50,55 * * * * . /home/lpar2rrd/lpar2rrd/etc/lpar2rrd.cfg; /usr/bin/perl /opt/lpar2rrd-agent/ -c localhost > /var/tmp/lpar2rrd-agent-hmc.out 2>&1
When is all set up then you will see graphs in menu ➡ HMC ➡ <YOUR_HMC> ➡ CPU/Memory/Paging
